Serat wulangreh is a book written by Sri Susuhunan Pakubuwana IV w
ritten on 19 Besar 1735 in Dal Windu Sancaya Wuku Sungsang or if in
AD in 1808. The teachings in this fiber contain the concept of leadership, is one
of the classic literary works that exist in Javanese. The origin of this book is a
book of wewelar (guidelines) for princes and royal families in the form of sekar
macapat. The problems in this study are: (1) what is the content of the serat
Wulangreh by Sri Susuhunan Pakubuwana IV. (2) How are the values of moderat
Islamic education in serat Wulangreh by Sri Susuhunan Pakubuwana IV.
The approach used in this research is to use a literature review. The
presentation in this study is descriptive, the data collection method uses text and
discourse analysis. This study attempts to capture a description of the values of
moderate Islamic education from Pakubuwana IV's thoughts contained in the serat
Wulangreh with the content analysis method, in order to obtain results about the
values contained in the serat.
The results of the research show that the results of each pupuh in the
serat Wulangreh contain instructions for seeking knowledge, improving behavior
and choosing relationships, avoiding despicable traits, adhering to the principles
of etiquette, sembah lelima, serving the king and the state, suggestions for being
fair, qona’ah, imitating good behavior, as well as prayers for their children. And
the values of moderate Islamic education contained in it are, first, balance between
the propositions of 'aqli and naqli; secondly, carrying out religious shari'ah
according to its level, not excessively leaving it; third, the prohibition of looking
at the advice of the person, but seeing the advice of the contents; fourth, the most
correct prohibition against blaming others; fifth, the prohibition of discrimination
in family and association; Lastly, decide everything by consensus and prohibitions
on their own.
