In class X-IPK 2 MAMBAUS SHOLIHIN, the researcher made observations
about speaking in that class. Many of them still have some difficulty in mastering
speaking. They can talk but their speech style is still like a robot. Which is still broken.
And also added by students of class X-IPK 2 MAMBAUS SHOLIHIN MAMBAUS,
there are still many who don't like English because it is "difficult". Based on the
problems above, researchers need to do these problems. This problem can be solved
using several strategies, namely storytelling techniques. Storytelling is an oral activity
to attract the audience's attention by using various sensory emotions that evoke an
event in the story, involving improvisation in telling stories, facial gestures, and body
movements. Thus, the researcher is interested in conducting research. Research with
this strategy students are expected to be active in the learning process. The reason the
writer uses this strategy is by discovering information that students are expected to
learn through finding not just memorizing. For this reason, the researcher hopes that
the students will be better in their speaking skills. Students have been equipped with
vocab in everyday life but they still have difficulty speaking which is comfortable for
them.
The researchers used quantitative methods. the results of the research are in the
form of numbers and data collection through pre-test and post-test.
The results showed that storytelling was a significant factor in improving
students' speaking fluency. This study shows that storytelling techniques can be an
effective teaching tool on speaking skills. Previous research also shows that
storytelling can give a effect on students' speaking skills. Speaking involves verbal
communication to convey ideas and requires speakers to transform their ideas into
words that listeners can understand. The context in which speaking is used also
influences the language learning process. This study found that the use of storytelling
techniques can effectively students' speaking. The pre-test and post-test scores showed
a significant impact on fluency, with the t-test scores being greater than the t-table
scores. Researchers suggest the use of storytelling techniques in teaching speaking
skills. This study also suggests that teaching media focus more on visual aspects, such
as digital storytelling, to improve students' speaking fluency. Schools should provide
equipment for this purpose, and future research may explore other variables affecting
speech fluency, such as parental support. The bibliography includes a variety of
resources on language learning and teaching methodologies.
